20 DRIED DATES
4 TBSP COCOA POWDER
2 TBSP MAPLE SYRUP
1 CUP ROLLED OATS
1 CUP COCONUT (SHREDS/DESSICATED)
PINCH (PINK) SALT
TOPPING (OPTIONAL)
HANDFUL OF WALNUTS
1 CUP DARK CHOCOLATE (DROPS, BUTTONS OR A BAR)

UTENSILS:
MEASURING CUP, TABLESPOON, SMALL SAUCEPAN, SMALL GLASS (HEAT PROOF) BOWL, FOLK, WOODEN SPOON, LARGE PLATE OR TWO

METHOD:
POUR ¼ CUP OF HOT WATER OVER THE DATES TO SOFTEN THEM
AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO, SQUISH THE DATES USING A FOLK
ADD ALL THE OTHER INGREDIENTS (EXCEPT FOR THE WALNUTS AND DARK CHOCOLATE
MIX WELL, USING A WOODEN SPOON OR YOUR HANDS
TAKE ABOUT 2 TBSP OF MIXTURE AND ROLL INTO A BALL, SQUISH DOWN INTO A COOKIE SHAPE AND PLACE ON A PLATE
PRESS A PIECE OF WALNUT INTO THE MIDDLE OF EACH.
PLACE ’CHEWS’ IN THE FRIDGE TO COOL.

MELT THE DARK CHOCOLATE IN A BOWL ABOVE BOILING WATER. STIR WITH A WOODEN SPOON UNTIL MELTED.
ONE BY ONE, DIP A ‘CHEW’ INTO THE MELTED CHOCOLATE, PLACE BACK ON A PLATE AND RETURN TO THE FRIDGE TO COOL.  
STORAGE: KEEPS IN THE FRIDGE FOR A WEEK
