Gemma Brown (Née Usher-Wilson) was raised on a farm in the picturesque countryside of southwest England, where the nearest friend was a jog-away or a pony ride through the fields. Growing up in the 1980s meant embracing a simpler pace of life devoid of modern conveniences like Uber Eats, with home-cooked meals being the only option.

After completing her undergraduate Social Science degree, Gemma embarked on several adventures, spending her early twenties immersed in rural communities in Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Indonesia. These experiences cultivated her passion for social entrepreneurship and fostered a deep respect for sustainable living, in harmony with nature.

In 2004, Gemma relocated to the French Alps, where she established roots and started a family. It was here that her appreciation for local, fresh cuisine blossomed, alongside her sustainable fashion brand, and later, her dedication to education through teaching.

In 2022, Gemma, along with her husband Greg and their three children, made the move to the Sunshine Coast, Australia. Driven by her passion for sports and wellness, Gemma taught the Queensland Health and Physical Education (HPE) curriculum, before deciding on a more ‘hands-on’ approach to promoting the health and wellbeing of young people. This led to the creation of The ‘Tuck Box Initiative’ and educational resources, such as ‘The Good Food Journal’ (2024).

Beyond her professional pursuits and culinary experiments, Gemma finds joy in creative design, endurance sports, travelling, and thrift shopping!
